Program Requirements

- At least 21 years of age
- Eligible for the GI Bill
- Hold a high school diploma or GED
- Eligible for a 1st class medical certificate
- Commit to pursuing a career as an airline pilot
- Sign program authorization and commitment paperwork
- Able to pursue flight training on a close to full-time basis
- U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.
- Encouraged: Many employers within the aviation community require pilots to hold a two-year degree (minimum) or four-year degree (preferred) with a 2.5 or higher GPA from an accredited college/ university or AABI-accredited aviation program. This is not a requirement for completion of the VAW program, although we do highly recommend it. If the veteran desires, VAW can help find local colleges or online schools to earn their degree.
